From the "get go" I have marched to the beat of my own drum. My poetry is about life, changes, love and friendship. It is my way of expressing my unique voice. Everyone has their tale of woe and bliss. We all struggle with our little demons. It is my hope that when someone reads my poetry they will make that personal soul connection and pause for reflection.
When I am inspired, moved to write it is always triggered by a unique experience or something I feel passionate about. My paintings and poetry are reflections of life and my individual journey.
I have many favorite poets, however , I do believe the poet I most admire is Walt Whitman 1819 ~ 1892 his honest, free verse and rhythmic style. The way in which he touches on multifaceted levels with his work: patriot, metaphysicist, nature poet, lover, free spirit and exponent of the spiritual values of self-realization through the recognition of life's real priorities, moderation, balance and tolerance.

Dawn The Beginning
Dawn is the beginning of the day
To do the best we can
We will never have this moment
Or be given this opportunity again
Dawn is the beginning of the day
To reflect the image we want to portray
The rest of my life will be molded
By the action I take today
In life's Chronicles is my record
What will I think of me?

Darkwood
A journey
where the straight way is lost
a wild and rough road
Darkwood thoughts awaken fears!
Solemn darkness comes
shadows whispered to my heart
sullen angels bless
cleanse and forgive
then take desire to the clouds.

You and I
Alike
We love,
Life,
The sweet smell of Lily of the Valley
The Cobalt -- Sky
The landscape of a hot July
When our blood boils over
And we laugh through our tears.
Life is a beautiful dance
And its music,
Like bread,
Is for everyone.
Embraced by the light,
United,
You reach out to those who struggle for life,
Love,
Moments,
Fresh baked bread and seasons
The music of our souls.

Tomorrows Tide
Before tomorrows tide rolls in
Prepare to Proclaim
The fervent account of our age
to those who await their birth
Anointed with greater generosity
Rise above the suffering and pain
WHERE
Ahead of our Times
no longer is laced with anguish and shame
Still,
Life is a beautiful thing
To love the world with both eyes shut
Waiting to be born
How brilliant
Anointing oneself a winner
All the while all around you
The stillness of Gray February
so cold,
so dark.

Unfailing Love
Love is ever lasting
What a comfort to know
When you're feeling down and out...
Love's kindness will surround you,
Always waiting with open arms
To give you strength.
To cheer you on...
Love is standing there beside you,
Reaching for your hand,
Waiting to hear your troubles,
Always eager to understand...

Life
always changing
twisting, turning, churning
from old life into new
thoughts consumed
wondering
what you think of me
two lives
united
entwined, enchanted, embraced
no turning back
not able to leave not wanting to go
frozen time
too late to run to soon to know
secrets told
carefully
adjusting, growing, changing
softly
night comes
i call your name
nothing stays the same...

When Spring Comes
Happiness is ours
all the world is new
mountains are draped in green, once more
and the sky is a Crimson blue
Lilacs scent the air
on delicate breeze
while Robins sing symphony
from distant apple trees
Daffodils are dressed in frills
Dogwood adorned in lace
Forget-Me-Nots from shady nooks
peek out with pale blue face
How splendid our world
when spring arrives to bless
our spirit and lives with restored faith
and springtime happiness

Secets
Secrets told
In shades of crimson and blue
You played me a fool
I was too proud to cry
My thoughts consumed
Wondering... Wondering... Wondering...
What you think of me
There's no turning back now
Secrets told!
Two lives united
Two lives enchanted
Secrets told!
Not able to leave
Not wanting to go
Secrets Told!
To late to run
To soon to know
Secrets told!
Softly night comes
And I call your name
Secrets told!
Life's always changin'
From old into new
Secrets told and nobody knows
